After consultation with Emergency Management regarding travel in the current weather and road conditions, Marion County Schools will remain closed to students and faculty Thursday, January 23, 2025. We will continue to monitor weather and road updates closely. Please check the school website and social media for the most current information. Stay safe and warm!


Based on the most current weather advisory predicting up to three inches of snow with possible refreezing and icy roads, Marion County Schools will be closed to students and staff Tuesday and Wednesday, January 21-22, 2025. All athletic, extracurricular, and after-school activities are canceled as well. Please monitor the weather, district website, and social media for updates. Please stay warm and safe.

It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the passing of Mrs. Sherry Hewitt Snipes, a beloved teacher at L. K. Moss Elementary School. Mrs. Snipes was dedicated to her students and the profession and will be deeply missed by the entire school family. Our thoughts are with her family during this difficult time. We also hold her current and former students in our hearts. We contacted the parents of those students via telephone today. Counselors will be available at L. K. Moss Elementary in the media center on Tuesday.
