MARION COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM TO LAUNCH SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH
The Marion County Board of Education voted at its December 14 meeting to contract with Georgia School Boards Association to lead a formal Superintendent Search for the local system. The process will begin immediately and application instructions, as well as a timeline for the search, will be publicly and legally announced in the near future. In the meantime, the board has issued the following press release:
The Marion County Board of Education has begun the search for a new superintendent for our school system. The Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) is assisting the local board by conducting the preliminary steps in choosing the new superintendent. GSBA will receive the applications and present all of them to the Marion County School Board after the application deadline has ended. (The application window and instructions will be announced within the next few weeks.)
Meanwhile, the Marion County School Board wants to hear from you – parents, guardians, employees, business owners, community leaders, governmental officials and all other ‘stockholders’ interested in the future of education in Marion County – on what characteristics you believe the new superintendent should possess. Please take a few minutes (it should take less than 5 minutes) to complete the short survey (link info below) to complete this short survey. A summary of the survey results will be given to the members of the Marion County School Board by GSBA for their use as they review applications and interview selected candidates, ultimately selecting the person they feel will best lead our schools in the position of superintendent.
You may access the survey at this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HQLYHL2
For more information on the search process or the application process, contact Bill Sampson at bsampson@gsba.com or GSBA’s website at gsba.com/member-services/superintendent-search-service.
