On Friday, January 31, State School Superintendent Richard Woods visited Marion County High School to bring a newly-minted award: MCHS was one of 49 schools recognized as a Literacy Leader. This means that students taking the American Literature End of Course (EOC) test in the 2023-24 school term made tremendous growth, especially considering that there are over 470 high schools in the State of Georgia.

For a high school to be named as a Literacy Leader, they must show growth and achievement. Details regarding this award may be found at www.gadoe.org.

MCHS test-takers were treated to a brunch from Buena Vista Coffee Club and a congratulatory speech from Superintendent Woods. MCHS is grateful for the hard work from this group of students, and as Mr. Woods said, “Let this banner be the first of many that you earn!”
