empower students

Marion County High School juniors are on board for a second year with Flint Energies' EMPOWER Youth Leadership. This year's group from Marion County (GA) consists of Baileigh Barrentine, Dash Delong, Aniya Kelley, Leila Laurencin, Abby Penoncello, Jalia Rodriguez, Shae Scott, and Breanna Williamson. These students filled out an application, underwent an interview, and completed a strengths assessment prior to their first meeting.

Flint Energies' EMPOWER program, led by Flint's Community Connections Specialist Natalie Bradley, brings together high school juniors from Crawford, Macon, Marion, Peach, Schley, Talbot and Taylor counties for nine months of learning about leadership, professionalism, service, and community development. This year, students will learn about leadership strengths, tour the Little White House, experience a college campus at Fort Valley State University, and participate in a winter service project.
