On April 22, 2024, the 2nd Annual Marion County School System Retirement/Awards Banquet was held in the MCMHS gym to honor special employees. Mr. Jamie Penoncello, Superintendent of Marion County Schools, initiated this celebration last year for employees who have distinguished themselves in some way. FCCLA members contributed to this event by serving the food catered by A & R. Several employees are retiring this year: Mrs. Jennifer Anthony (27 years in transportation), Mr. Robert Golden (36 years in maintenance), Mrs. Ellen Harbuck (31 years as a paraprofessional), Mr. Don Kaler (18 years in transportation), and Mrs. Donna Morris (24 years in transportation).
Along with honoring the retirees, the Eagle Award winners were honored as well. L.K. Moss Teacher of the Year was Rhonda Dew and the MCMHS Teachers of the Year (tie) was Mrs. Tracey McCorkle and Mrs. Junnie McKay. The Eagle Award winners include Tony Muff – L.K. Moss Transportation, Mrs. Jennifer Anthony – MCMHS Transportation, Winda Swan – L.K. Moss School Foods, Mrs. Angley Mathis – MCMHS School Foods, Donna Chomo – L.K.
