Classes are off to a great start! We began the year learning the basics of measuring and using science equipment properly; measuring length with a meter stick, measuring mass with a digital balance, using a stopwatch, finding volume using displacement or by measuring l x w x h. In a lab on density, the mass and volume information gathered, students calculated density. Using the density, students identified 15 different cylinders made of different materials by matching them with the correct density in a data table.
We are currently studying the periodic table of elements and students are working on a project that involves the first 20 elements on the Periodic table including element name, symbol, atomic number and a Bohr model of each.
